BARLA Lancashire Cup Final

Blackbrook U18s 0 v Rylands Sharks U18s 34

Rylands grabbed their first piece of silverware of the season with a
mesmerising display against Blackbrook. The opening half was tight with
both defences strong, but the astute kicking game of Great Britain half
back Chris Forster created tries for centres Ste Fisher and Jonno Smith
to give Rylands an 8-0 half time advantage.
It was another kick that opened up the Blackbrook defence in the
second half this time from second row Sam Driscoll who collected has
own grubber and carried two defenders over the line for a superb
individual effort, Forsters conversion extended the lead to 14. Brook
had to throw caution to the wind as they chased the game and a loose
pass was seized upon by Ste Fisher and he went over unnapposed the
conversion made it 20-0 and Rylands were in total command. The restart
saw Great Britain full back Ryan Fieldhouse catch the ball on his own
10 metre line and he burst through the Blackbrook defence and outpaced
the cover for a length of the field try that was greated with loud
cheers from the vocal Rylands supporters, Forster added the extras and
the lead was extended even further in the closing minutes as Jonno
Smith grabbed his second of the day and the hard working Steven
Moorcroft got his reward with the last try of the afternoon getting on
the end of a tremendous passing movement. Sharks Captain Gary Hewitt
lifted the trophy to the delight of the Sharks supporters who saw their
team perform faultlessly in the atrocious weather conditions.
