Wigan St Cuthberts 14 v Rylands 14

RYLANDS recovered from a 12-2 half-time deficit to take a share of the spoils with Wigan St Cuthberts.
Their try scorers in the North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division encounter were Tommy Brennan and Neil Evans.

Rylands 24 v Golborne Parkside 22

GOLBORNE Parkside produced a heroic performance in their BARLA Lancashire Cup clash with North West Amateur Rugby League Division One giants Rylands.
Their display was reminiscent of some of Golborne's great National Cup wins last season but the fifth division outfit were denied victory by a late Rylands try.
Golborne built up an 8-0 lead in the first 15 minutes with a try from Stuart Naylor plus two goals from Stuart Arkwight.
This disjointed Golborne. They had to reshuffle their pack and with 25 minutes gone Rylands reduced their arrears to 8-6 with a converted try.
But replacement Gregg Dale made an immediate impact when he burst through Rylands' defence for a try goaled by Arkwright.
Rylands hit back immediately with a try and a goal to make the half-time score 14-12 to Golborne.
They were unable to make any substitutions and Rylands scored a converted try to take the lead for the first time.
Arkwight converted and he added a penalty goal to leave Rylands stunned.
But with 10 minutes remaining Rylands snatched back the lead with a converted try.
Golborne then threw everything they had at Rylands in a desperate attempt to cause the upset of the day.
Tony Berry knocked over a penalty goal and Peter Leonard added two conversions.

Halton Farnworth 16 v Rylands 16

RYLANDS gained a North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division draw against a side that included four players making their first team debuts.
They all performed with credit and, after being 4-0 down at half-time, an equalising try from Andy Brown came after great work from debut player Carl Lloyd.
Rylands took the lead with Brown's second try and Leonard added the extras.
Farnworth responded with two converted tries to take a 16-10 lead but with Paul Flannery and Andy Pucill performing heroically up front they managed to set up a try for Neil Evans, which Leonard converted, to give Rylands a share of the points that they thoroughly deserved.

Rylands 22 v Haydock 25

NORTH West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division leaders Haydock had to fight all the way for the points in a thriller at Gorsey Lane.
If it had not been for two controversially disallowed tries in the final minutes, they would have gone home empty handed.
The scoring swung from end to end throughout but a drop goal from Haydock with five minutes to go proved to be the final point that counted.
Rylands were reduced to 12 men shortly before half-time when John Welch was sent off for a high tackle but the numbers were even again when a Haydock player was shown the red card for a similar offence.
Paul Flannery and Mike Ward tries plus excellent kicking from Peter Leonard kept Rylands in the hunt.

Widnes Albion 26 v Rylands 44

RYLANDS were comfortable winners at Widnes Albion but failed to impress coach Mark Forster.
He expected more from his players in the North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division clash.
Rylands' try scorers were Tony Berry, two, Wes Lawton, Mike Ward, Andy Brown, Tony Berry, three, Phil Stevens and Neil Evans.
Leonard and Stevens, two, added conversions to the touch downs.

Rylands 42 Telford Raiders 17

RYLANDS progressed to the third round of the GMB National Cup with a comfortable win against summer conference side Telford.
The game was a little lacklustre at times with Rylands only needing to find second gear to run in eight tries via Darren Shaw, two, Andy Pucill, two, Paul Clayton, Tony Berry, Paul Flannery and man of the match Carl Lloyd.
Peter Leonard knocked over five goals.
Rylands make a fight of it against the leaders

Rylands 14 Simms Cross 26

RYLANDS pushed North West Counties Premier Division leaders Simms Cross all the way with a committed performance.
They opened the scoring when Andy Pucill and John Ward created an opening for Mike Ward.
Simms Cross responded with a converted try and a penalty.
On the stroke of half-time they extended their lead to 4-14 with a further try.
After the break Cross again scored a converted try when Rylands failed to gather a kick but Rylands responded when Lee Irvine collected Peter Leonard's kick to reduce the arrears.
Simms Cross again went over for a converted try but Rylands had the last word when Neil Evans collected another Leonard kick.
Ian Ward took the man of the match award closely followed by Pucill and Tony Berry.

Rylands 20 Blackbrook 32

RYLANDS blew their chance of winning their North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division clash with Blackbrook by making a nightmare start.
Blackbrook swept into an early 18-0 lead and Rylands were always playing catch up.
They gave themselves a lifeline with tries by Peter Leonard, coach Mark Forster, John Welch and Andy Brown.
But their never-say-die spirit and commendable comeback bid received no reward as Blackbrook recorded a comfortable win.
The best performers for Rylands were Leonard, Welch, Flannery and Tony Berry.

Rylands 2 Orrell St James 18

RYLANDS' hopes of pulling five points clear of the North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division relegation zone were destroyed by a quality performance by Orrell St James.
Rylands' early domination of the game reaped little reward as the Orrell defence stood firm against wave after wave of attacks
Orrell had their first venture into Rylands territory on 20 minutes and promptly scored a converted try.
Peter Leonard finally got Rylands on the score sheet with a penalty on the half hour mark but Rylands trailed 12-2 at the break.
The second half was similar to the first in that defences continued to hold the upper hand.
Only prop Andy Pucill managed to breach the strong Orrell defence but Rylands were unable to finish off his good work on several occasions.
A further converted try by Orrell wrapped up the points.
Pucill, Carl Lloyd, Leonard and Tony Berry were the star players for Rylands, who play Orrell again on Saturday, away from home.

Rylands 28 v Bold Miners 24

A nine try thriller at Gorsey Lane saw Rylands win their first Premier League game in ten attempts against high flying Bold Miners.
Early tries from Ian Ward and Carl Lloyd both converted by Pete Leonard saw Rylands take a 12-0 lead but bold are not third in the NWC top flight for nothing and by half time they were level at 12-12 thanks to three unconverted tries. Early in the second half a Darren Anders penalty put the visitors in front for the first time but Rylands responded immediately when flying winger Jamie Evans juggled a Leonard kick then outstripped the Bold defence for a tremendous try Leonard added the extras to give Rylands an 18-14 lead.
Bold fought back again with a converted try to regain the lead 18-20 but it looked as if the boot of Leonard had won it for Rylands when he knocked over two penalties to give Rylands a 22-20 advantage then four minutes into injury time Bold winger burgess latched onto a kick through to give Bold a 22-24 lead. Ggame over you would have thought but Rylands refused to lie down and when Leonards restart kick was knocked on by bold a last gasp lifeline was given to them and they took it in style and again it was that man Leonard who worked the field position then kicked the ball with precision to the corner where Andy Brown leapt highest to claim the touchdown Leonard inevitably added the extras from the touchline to give Rylands a dramatic 28-24 victory.
Best for Rylands who entertain Widnes Albion this week were Andy Matthews Carl Lloyd Jamie Evans and Pete Leonard.

Rylands 22 v Widnes Albion 16

Rylands all but secured their Premier Division status with a hard earned 22-16 victory over relegation threatened Widnes Albion both teamsplayed some excellant rugby in the
atrocious conditions but Rylands had more class which was shown when Jamie Evans scored two identical tries from a scrum move Peter Leonard knocked over two goals and Rylands comfortably led 12 - 0 at half time.
Albion scored early in the second half with a converted try but Rylands responded immediately with a try from Andy Brown converted by Leonard to keep the gap at 12 at 12 points. But Albion who are fighting for their premier division lives struck back with 2 tries, 1 converted to narrow the gap to 2 points but that was as close as they got as Rylands dominated the last 10 minutes and secured the points when Iain Ratcliffe dove over after grea work from Phil Stevens and Paul Flannery.
Best performers John Ward, Peter Leonar, Andy Brown and Neil Evans

Accrington 10 Rylands A 18

Rylands travelled to Accrington in a confident mood, Rylands started stronger but were behind 6 - 0 after 15 minutes caused by some sloppy defence. Rylands got their kick up the backside off the coaching staff and after some outstanding work from loose forward Brinksman from a scrum put wingman Evans who raced 50 metres to score under the sticks. Stevens converted to level the score. After the break playing downhill Rylands took control of the game and after some awesome forward play by Walker the unstoppable Shaw forced his way over. Accrington never stopped and but for outstanding work from fullback Lloyd would have been back in the game . Perks replaced the injured Stevens (dead leg ) and made yard after yard which paved the way for Lloyd to score a well deserved try. Accrington went over late on but Rylands had done a good job to get the points.

Evergreen Ronnie Logan started the fightback for Ryland with their opening try then a superb individual effort from Darren Hill both converted by Chris Forster gave a half time score of 12 -14.
Another piece Hill magic put Rylands in front for the first time 18-14.
But a lapse in concentration by the Rylands defence allowed Eccles to retake the lead with a converted try to lead 18-20.
Eccles were reduce to 12 men on 60 minutes as they desperatively tried to stop the increasingly influential Darren Hill by any means and Rylands took complete control scoring 3 further tries through Jonathon Smith, Mike Lee and Chris Beddall
